The Controller leads, manages and coordinates all accounting functions for our multi-property company and reports to the CAO. Candidate should be knowledgeable in all aspects of accounting, organized, have clear and willing communication skills and thorough attention to detail. This position provides consultation to the Management Team and is expected to perform with minimal supervision. Real estate accounting experience is a plus but not required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Record financial transactions
- Preparation and processing of journal entries
- Manage AP/AR
- Reconcile bank/credit card statements
- Inter-company transactions
- Reconciliation of Petty Cash account
- Monitor and assess cash flow needs
- Collections
- Oversight and management of the Accounting Clerk
- Coordination and preparation for annual tax return
- Support other members of the Management Team
- Support for Property Management
- Attend and participate in staff meetings
- Assist with special projects as needed
- Perform other related duties and required
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Five years experience in full charge of bookkeeping and office management
Extensive experience and comfort level with Microsoft Office products and Property Management software
US Citizenship or authorization to work in the United States
Willingness to undergo required background check
PREFERRED
Education: Four-year college degree with accounting concentration
Experience: Five years experience with an accounting firm or as a full-charge bookkeeper for a real estate development/construction company
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience, starting at $55,000/year
